What is Compounding?

Compounding is “original pharmacy.” It is the combination of two or more ingredients per your practitioner’s prescription to suit YOUR unique needs and create a customized medication. Pharmacy Care of Tennessee is very proud to provide non-sterile (no ophthalmic or injectable products) compounding services to our patients.

Compounded medications can address a host of medical conditions including:

Are pills or capsules hard for you, a family member, or a pet to swallow? As a compounding pharmacy we are able to produce unique dosage forms of medications based on your preferences and/or restrictions. Examples include:

Popsicles
Lollipops
Troches
Rapid dissolve tablets (RDTs)
Topical creams
Suppositories

Compounding can even eliminate certain allergens for sensitivities that are commonly found in manufactured medications because we can make dye-free, preservative-free, alcohol-free, and/or sugar-free forms of medications.
